Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has awarded Certificates of Return to Governor-elect Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Adelami Olayide, following their victory in the Ondo governorship election.

The certificates were presented by INEC National Commissioner for Ondo, Prof. Kunle Ajayi, at the INEC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ajayi praised the people of Ondo for their peaceful conduct during the election, noting that there were no major incidents of violence. He also commended the professional conduct of security agencies, electoral observers, and media organizations that contributed to the success of the election.

Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to INEC for conducting a free, fair, and credible election. He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a level playing field, stating that the president did not favor any candidate.

Aiyedatiwa won the election with 366,781 votes, defeating his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party, who received 117,845 votes. Aiyedatiwa secured victory in all 18 local government areas of the state.

Ahmed Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), described the election outcome as a victory for the people of Ondo, the APC, Nigeria, and Africa.

He emphasized that the result signaled the entrenchment of democracy in Africa and reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to ensuring that democracy remains fair, free, and decent.
