President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to serving Nigeria selflessly, stating that his administration is dedicated to addressing the nation’s key challenges, including infrastructure development, food and energy security, education, and economic stability.
Speaking during a meeting with the Forum of Former Presiding Officers of the National Assembly at the Aso Rock Villa on Friday, Tinubu emphasized that he was not in office for personal gain but to work for the country’s progress.
“I didn’t come to look for money and exploit the situation; I came to work,” Tinubu stated, acknowledging the support of the 16 former presiding officers in attendance, including former Senate President Ken Nnamani, who led the delegation.
The president stressed the importance of collaboration and inclusiveness in driving national development, adding that his administration is focused on ensuring financial regulation, exploring alternative energy sources, and improving living standards.
Tinubu reflected on past mismanagement of Nigeria’s resources, particularly during periods of high crude oil production, and highlighted his administration’s resolve to correct these issues.
He urged the former leaders to continue supporting his government by sharing their experience in governance.
Senator Nnamani, speaking on behalf of the delegation, expressed the group’s confidence in Tinubu’s ability to tackle Nigeria’s pressing challenges, including insecurity and economic instability.
He commended Tinubu for his decisive actions, particularly on local government autonomy, and pledged the group’s support for the president’s efforts to restore national pride and unity.
The meeting marked Tinubu’s first official engagement with the group since taking office.
