‘I am leaving office very very satisfied and happy’ – Obaseki

Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has expressed fulfillment with his administration’s achievements.

This is as his eight-year tenure as Governor concludes on November 12, 2024.

He commended himself during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Benin Technical College in Benin City on Tuesday.

In his address, Obaseki stated that he came, saw, and did his best as governor over the past eight years. He expressed joy at seeing the rebuilt Benin Technical College, which now offers hope to many young boys and girls.

He remarked, “What greater glory or gift can you ask from God? I am leaving office very satisfied and happy.”

The outgoing governor highlighted that the college’s rebuilding was part of his campaign promise to create 200,000 jobs for the youth, aiming to combat human trafficking and irregular migration.

He recalled the challenges faced in 2016, with many children considering school a scam and the alarming rate of human trafficking.

Obaseki recalled how he promised to restore hope and create over 200,000 jobs by providing skills and training to the youth. He emphasized that job creation would not come from the government or civil service but through practical education and training.

“So, I made a commitment that day that restoring this school and renovation would be my first priority,” he added.
