Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has formally requested the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, within seven days.
Zazzaga, who also serves as Chairman of the North-Central APC Forum and was a member of the Stakeholder Relations for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, shared this demand during a press briefing in Jos, Plateau State, on Tuesday.
He explained that Ganduje’s position violates the APC’s constitution and zoning arrangement, which designated the national chairmanship to the North-Central region, specifically Nasarawa State, during the party’s National Convention in March 2022. Zazzaga emphasized that Ganduje, hailing from the North-West, was improperly appointed after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu in August 2023, undermining internal democracy and creating division within the party.
In his letter, Zazzaga highlighted previous efforts to resolve the issue amicably, asserting that Ganduje’s continued occupation of the role could weaken the party’s unity and electoral prospects. He also pointed out that Ganduje is facing corruption charges, further complicating his position.
Zazzaga warned that if Ganduje does not resign within seven days, he would pursue legal action, copying President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other top party officials in the letter.
