The immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has responded to allegations made by United States-based Nigerian professor of journalism, Farooq Kperogi, regarding ethnic favoritism in President Bola Tinubu’s appointments.
Kperogi, in an article titled ‘Tinubu’s Buharisation of the NNPC’, accused President Tinubu of appointing Yoruba individuals to key positions at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Kperogi claimed that an anonymous source suggested Bayo Ojulari is being proposed as Group Managing Director (GMD) of the NNPCL after Mele Kyari’s term expires. He also highlighted former President Muhammadu Buhari’s lopsided appointments favoring the North during his tenure.
Reacting to Kperogi’s article on X, El-Rufai stated that two wrongs do not make a right, referring to Buhari’s bias for northerners in his appointments.
The former Kaduna State governor advocated for sensible inclusion over what he described as arrogant exclusion, saying, “Two wrongs do not make a right. Sensible inclusion always trumps arrogant exclusion.”
