Despite delays in the arrival of election materials, residents of Edo Central Senatorial District, comprising Esan South-East, Igueben, Esan North-East, Esan West, and Esan Central LGAs, have begun casting their votes.
At Unit 9, Dumontan polling unit in Irrua, Esan LGA, voting started around 9:20 am, with voters casting their ballots in an orderly manner under the supervision of INEC ad hoc staff.
Voters, including the elderly and youth, adhered to security officers’ instructions.
However, at the Model Primary Healthcare Centre, Ward 013, Oturuwo Unit 1, the situation was less orderly, with INEC officials struggling to manage the crowd.
Food items were distributed at the polling booth, and a middle-aged man was observed handing out money to voters after asking who they supported.
The BVAS machines were functioning well at polling units visited, and voting proceeded smoothly, except for minor disturbances related to voters’ dissatisfaction with a political party having two representatives.
The movement restriction was strictly enforced, with security operatives ensuring only residents with voter cards accessed the roads leading to polling stations.
