The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started announcing results from the governorship election in Edo State.
Results from various Local Government Areas (LGAs) have been collated and sent to the Central Collation Centre in Benin City, the state capital.
The main contenders for the governorship seat are the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Labour Party (LP). The election took place on Saturday, with INEC officials counting and announcing results at the polling units.

INEC has declared collation suspended due to unavailability of the last TWO LGAs. Resumption has been set at 5:00pm.
However, as it stands, the APC boasts of 244,189 votes. The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has garnered 195,953 after 16 LGAs.
The Labour Party, seen as the Third Force have managed to pull 13,346 votes.

As we await the official announcement, all seems set for Senator Monday Okpebholo to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki as the Governor of Edo State when his tenure elapses.
