The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has temporarily gone on recess in the ongoing Edo State governorship election results collation.
The results so far place the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, in the lead with 244,189 votes, followed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, with 195,953 votes, and the Labour Party’s (LP) Olumide Akpata trailing with 13,346 votes.
The election, which concluded on Saturday, saw officials counting and announcing results at polling units before the data was moved to the collation centre.
INEC is expected to resume the collation process by 5:00 PM today, where more updates will be provided on the official results.
