The Federal Capital Territory High Court’s ruling prohibiting Julius Abure and two other individuals from posing as national officers of the party has been overturned by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
On April 5, 2023, Hamza Muazu, the Presiding Judge, made a ruling on an ex parte application that barred Abure, Farouk Ibrahim, Clement Ojukwu, and Oluchi Opara from serving as national officers of the LP.
Additionally, the court rejected Abure’s objection to his removal from the position of LP chairman.
Martins Esikpali John, Lucky Shaibu, Isah Zekeri, Omogbai Frank, Abokhaiu Aliu, Ayohkaire Lateef, John Elomah, and Ayobami Arabambi filed a lawsuit accusing Abure and others of falsifying multiple FCT high court documents in order to conduct unauthorized substitutes during the most recent elections.
Nonetheless, the defendants requested remedy from the appeals court.
Justice Hamman Barka stated in his lead decision on Wednesday that the high court erred in assuming jurisdiction over the case.
Additionally, he granted the appellants N1 million.
