APC state chairmen endorse Ganduje

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje

Former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who is also the national chairman of All Progressives Party, received a vote of confidence from the Forum of State Chairmen of the party on Tuesday.

This was revealed during a visit to the party office in Abuja, when the delegation of 37 state party chairmen, which included the FCT, offered the endorsement, pledging their support for the beleaguered national chairman.

The acting chairman of the forum and Lagos APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues said they were united behind Ganduje and would be available whenever they are needed.

“We are here to let you know that you remain the captain of the ship. After all, those who made the announcement were not even known to the party in the first place.

“We will not allow you to be embarrassed like former chairmen of the party.

“What they wanted to do was a coup. But the coup has failed. We are here to show that we are solidly behind you anytime any day,” he said.

On the 15th of April, an All Progressives Congress (APC) ward in Dawakin Tofa LGA of Kano suspended Abdullahi Ganduje.

The suspension was affirmed by a court two days later after the state committee had earlier nullified it by sacking the Ward Party Leaders.

However, yesterday, the Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Usman Na’Abba, reversed earlier rulings supporting the suspension of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Ganduje is also in the midst of a corruption probe after he was arraigned on eight counts bordering on a $413,000 bribery allegation, diversion, and misappropriation of funds up to ₦1.38bn, among others by the Kano State Government.
