Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has assured that there will be no segregation in Abia while he is in charge, promising equal treatment for both natives and non-natives living in the state.
He emphasized that his administration is not concerned about the origins of a resident but is solely focused on their skills and contributions to the state.
Otti made these remarks at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Umuahia on Sunday during a thanksgiving service commemorating his one year in office.
“I think what is most important is also that this administration does not discriminate, we don’t even want to know what part of Abia you’re coming from.
“We don’t even want to know what part of Igboland you come from. Once you reside here (in Abia), you are a part of us.
“That is why today, we have for the first time a Permanent Secretary, who does not come from Abia State, who does not come from any state in the South East but comes from Edo state,” Governor Otti stated.
Otti stated that his administration chose not to hold a celebration for his one year in office. Instead, he announced that on Tuesday, they would begin a multi-billion naira terminal project in Umuahia, which will combine all motor parks and a railway station in one location.
He mentioned that Umuahia, which he previously described as a glorified village, will experience a complete infrastructure transformation in the next year, with a railway line extending from Aba.
