The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the July 13 council polls in all 24 local government areas in Delta State.
The results were announced on Sunday in Asaba at the headquarters of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC).
Addressing the press after the declaration of results by the LGA Returning Officers, DSIEC Chairman Dr. Jerry Agbaike stated that the Allied People’s Movement (APM) won in one electoral ward in Oshimili South local government area.
However, Senator Ede Dafinone (APC), representing Delta Central senatorial district, criticized the election, calling it a mere coronation of all PDP-nominated candidates.
He faulted the state electoral commission, alleging that they likely acted on the instructions of the state Governor, allotting figures to candidates who participated in what he described as a shambolic process.
Dafinone labeled the elections a complete sham and a mockery of democratic ideals and standards.
