Human rights advocate and social critic Aisha Yesufu has said that President Bola Tinubu’s administration intends to pretend until it gets the United Arab Emirates, UAE, to relax the restriction on Nigerian visas.
The announcement follows rumors that the UAE has removed its ban on Nigerian nationals obtaining visas. Recall In October 2022, the United Arab Emirates(UAE) implemented a ban on the entry of Nigerians and citizens of 19 other African nations into its borders.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, who is purportedly the author of the report, has clarified that the restriction hasn’t been removed yet.
But on Wednesday, Yesufu claimed on her X handle that the administration was trying to stage it. She stated, “Tinubu’s illegal government wants to pretend to be successful until they actually are.”
Travel agencies and trade partners received notification from the government to reject all applications.
