Two arrested for kidnapping, killing in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly responsible for numerous kidnappings and killings in Ijebu Igbo and surrounding areas of Ijebu North Local Government Area. Five other members of the gang are still at large.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, the seven-member kidnap gang was involved in the abduction and subsequent killing of a 71-year-old father of five and another 37-year-old man, whose bodies were found buried in shallow graves at different locations.

Accompanied by officers and health officials, the Commissioner of Police led the operation to the bushes where the victims were buried. He assured residents that the law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing the remaining gang members.

“These two suspects have confirmed being the culprits while their other partners are presently on the run. They are here to lead us to the shallow grave where the kidnapped victims were buried,” the CP said.

“We think it is better to follow that sequence, let us confirm that it is actually a shallow grave where the victims were buried.

“This is a seven-man gang. The important thing is that they have admitted to the commission of the offence and their cohorts are on the run.”
