The Supreme Court has dismissed a suit seeking to remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from office over allegations of drug-related activities and ties to the CIA.
The suit, filed by Chief Ambrose Owuru, a former presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP), claimed that Tinubu was unfit for the presidency due to his alleged forfeiture of $460,000 to the U.S. government in a drug-related case and his purported role as an active CIA agent.
In a unanimous decision, the five-member panel of justices, led by Justice Uwani Musa Abba-Aji, dismissed the suit and imposed a fine of ₦5 million on Owuru for filing a frivolous and vexatious case.
The court also warned against accepting any further frivolous suits from the plaintiff.
Owuru, who represented himself in court, was ordered to remove his lawyer’s wig and gown before addressing the justices.
Despite his attempts to argue his case, the court found his claims unconvincing and upheld the legitimacy of President Tinubu’s tenure.
This ruling reaffirms the court’s stance against baseless legal actions and underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity of the judicial process.
