A Christian clergyman from Abeokuta, Ogun State named Timothy Olatunbosun expressed sadness that younger generations do not value and honor their fathers.
Olatunbosun, who is the pastor in charge of Ibara Baptist Church, Abeokuta, stated this on Sunday while delivering his sermon themed ‘Fathers Are Superheroes’ as part of the activities for the 2024 Father’s Day celebration.
He stressed that some children question their fathers, asking, “What have you done that nobody has ever done?” He warned them not to toe the path of destruction.
“Everything is about their family, and the family will still look at them as if they have not done anything.
“Why do we say this? When a child is telling the father, ‘What have you done that nobody has ever done?’, and that is the language of this generation. Please, young generation, be careful.”
He also mentioned that the era of “social media and fake lifestyles” has significantly impacted family dynamics. He encouraged fathers to maintain their roles effectively as examples to follow.
However, he urged the younger ones to appreciate the efforts of their fathers.
“Some of you don’t appreciate the labor of your father, the labor of your parents, your guardian. You do not appreciate it. By the time it gets to you, your own will become worse because you never prepared for it.”
