In Osun State, a clash between Nigeria Police officers and NSCDC operatives occurred after a group of individuals in “Ankara” attire, claiming to be police, entered Elizabeth Estate to arrest a suspect.
According to NSCDC spokesperson Adeleke Kehinde, the group lacked proper identification, causing tensions with NSCDC personnel stationed there.
The situation escalated when a reinforced police team allegedly assaulted and detained an NSCDC officer the following day.
NSCDC Commandant Michael Adaralewa demanded an unbiased investigation to ensure accountability, condemning the officer’s treatment.
However, Osun Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola, a dispute arose when Oyo State police officers attempted to arrest a suspect in an Osogbo estate, reportedly encountering resistance from NSCDC personnel stationed there.
The NSCDC allegedly injured two officers and deflated the tires of the police vehicle, prompting the police to call for reinforcement.
Following this, a member of the NSCDC involved was detained for obstructing police duties. Opalola assured the public that investigations are ongoing to determine the facts surrounding the incident.
