Chivalry is not dead in Nigeria as a non-governmental association in Nigeria gave out 33 million naira to 4 different children special needs centre in the country.
A Non-Governmental Organisation called Worship for Change Foundation has donated a sum of N33m to four different charity organisations which provide care for children with special needs across the nation.
The organization presented the funds to the beneficiaries charity organization on Tuesday In Lagos state.
During the event, the Chief Responsibility Officer of the organisation , Wale Agenuga, made it known that beneficiary charity organization were picked at random across the nation.
He said “We normally have a concert to raise funds for the charities that we nominate, and we are here today to make a presentation of funds to those charities that we nominated.
“We have four charities, such as the Joy in Africa Foundation, the Let Cerebral Palsy Kids Learn Foundation, To Omo Re Centre for Special Empowerment, and the Seedo Initiative for Children with Special Needs. Each of the charities will be getting N8.25 million each, which is the fund that we raised at the last concert,”
He also spoke about the selection process employed by the association “We often find charities that are doing good work based on recommendations from other people that we have assisted in the past.
“They have to be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. There has to be proof that they are doing a good job. We also try as much as possible to have a good spread across the country. Like today, we have one from Asaba, another one from Ilorin, and the other two from Abuja and Lagos.
“The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation and many other international organisations have called for the provision of more inclusive education that will provide equal opportunity for both challenged and abled children in Nigeria.
One of the founders of the beneficiary charity organisations, Reverend Samuel Ajayi, the founder of the orphanage, To Omore Centre for Special Empowerment, expressed her joy and delight in the huge donation made to their organization and also what it will be used for.
He said “Our foundation cares for children with various kinds of disabilities, including cerebral palsy and visual and hearing impairments, among others. We have established a school for these needy students because no school takes them.
“We have the nursery and basic classes. We also have vocational and rehabilitation centres for adults. One of the problems we have is accommodation and we thank God for Green Worship, which has decided to give us this amount of money. Now we will continue to build more classrooms for them.”
Another one of the founders of the beneficiary charity organisations, Joy Okonjor, the founder of the Joy in Africa Foundation revealed her excitement about the donation and how it will be used for the benefits of the foundation
In her words she said “ Our foundation is about children with special needs; children who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, and others. I am grateful to God for this donation. We have been praying to God to help us get a piece of land because we are still renting and we have about 73 children with special needs in this small space. God has done it. We thank Him for using Green Worship to help us.”
