Nigerians urged to leave Lebanon amid Israeli attacks

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has urged Nigerians living in Lebanon to consider leaving the country due to escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran.

The conflict intensified after Iran fired 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, prompting concerns for safety in the region.

NiDCOM’s spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, issued a statement on Wednesday advising Nigerians to take advantage of the still-operational commercial flights to exit Lebanon safely. The commission highlighted ongoing attacks by Israeli forces on Hezbollah positions and other parts of Lebanon, which have created unsafe conditions for residents.

While many Nigerians have already relocated from the dangerous southern areas to safer regions, NiDCOM emphasized the need for continued vigilance and advised Nigerians to remain in contact with the Nigerian Embassy in Lebanon for updates and assistance.

The commission expressed relief that no Nigerian citizens have been harmed so far and reassured that their safety remains a top priority for President Bola Tinubu.
