Africans in 2024 made remarkable strides on the global stage, spearheading innovation, development, and progress across diverse sectors.
On Friday, New African magazine unveiled its list of the 100 Most Influential Africans of 2024. This list highlights individuals who have made notable contributions across politics, business, science, sports, and civil society.
Among the prominent figures on the 2024 list are Wale Tinubu, nephew of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu; Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote; and Nigerian football star Ademola Lookman. These influential personalities, along with others, have been recognized for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
Anver Versi, the editor of the London-based magazine, expressed the importance of this recognition, stating, “We need this because I cannot recall the world being so polarized, so divided, so stone-faced in the face of terrible man-made atrocities.”
The magazine’s statement added, “The 100 Most Influential Africans of 2024 edition of New African offers an in-depth look at the lives and achievements of the extraordinary individuals shaping the African narrative on the continent and abroad. Their stories serve as a source of inspiration and a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of the African spirit.”
