On Saturday, The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla urged Nigerians to pray for the country’s peace, unity and progress amid current challenges.
He said this at an Iftar (breaking of fasting) programme organised by the Nigerian Navy Islamic Directorate, in the spirit Ramadan in Abuja.
Although the country is passing through difficult challenges in areas of economy and security, he said with prayers God intervention is what is needed.
“The nation is facing daunting challenges particularly from the security and economic aspects of our nationhood. And in addition to working hard to overcome these challenges, we believe that man being a spiritual being will also need prayers.
“This year’s Ramadan also coincided with Lenten period for the Christians. This emphasizes the oneness of all religions particularly Islam and Christianity. We must jointly continue to pray for God Almighty to intervene in our situation,” he said.
“I want to enjoin our Muslim brothers and sisters to continue to pray for peace and security of this nation,” he added.
Also, he said that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is leaving no stone unturned to see a turnaround in the country and “those of us who are his field officers are equally ready to do all that is humanly possible”.
