MAPOLY Students attack Ogun Dep Gov

Ogun State Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele

Protesting students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta, Ogun State, attacked the convoy of Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele on Wednesday.

The incident occurred while she was en route to the 35 Artillery Brigade Alabama to represent Governor Dapo Abiodun at the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations.

The students, armed with sticks and other dangerous objects, damaged some of the security vehicles and injured several security operatives who were trying to maintain order.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, confirmed the attack in a statement.

Akinmade explained that the students became more agitated upon realizing it was the deputy governor and attempted to immobilize her convoy.

Despite efforts by security operatives and police officers to calm the situation, the students continued their assault.

Consequently, the deputy governor had to make an immediate detour to her lodge to allow the protesting students to pass peacefully before proceeding to her scheduled function.

The students also blocked the road, causing significant obstruction to vehicular movement.
