A Nigerian man shared his experience after unknowingly boarding a motorcycle driven by a police officer disguised as an okada rider in Challenge, Ilorin.
In a TikTok post, he revealed that although the incident occurred some time ago, it has stayed on his mind ever since.
According to him, he went to a popular spot in Ilorin known as Challenge and, as it got late, struggled to find a bike to go home. Eventually, he found one and began his journey. He mentioned that it’s common for police officers to be stationed around the area.
As they approached Tanke, the bike rider kept asking him which route he preferred to take, hinting at police presence. However, the man confidently assured the rider that he had nothing to hide.
Upon reaching a police checkpoint, the bike rider had a brief conversation with the officers before continuing on their journey. Upon arriving at his destination, the rider surprised him by revealing that he was actually a police officer in disguise.
Reflecting on the incident, he wrote:
“I went to Challenge and stayed there until around 10 p.m. I finally found an okada, and while nearing Tanke junction, the bike man asked me which route I wanted him to take because of the police.”
“He asked the first time, and I said there was no problem. He asked again a few minutes later, then a third time, and I assured him that I don’t engage in anything illegal.”
“At the first checkpoint, he spoke to the officers, showed them something, and they let him pass.”
Reflecting on the experience, he noted that the situation could have ended differently if he had been involved in anything illegal.
As the post gained traction online, many social media users shared their thoughts on the unusual encounter.
