Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared August 20 a work-free day.
This is to mark the 2024 edition of Isese Day, a festival of the Traditional Religion Adherents.
The governor’s Special Adviser (Media), Sulaimon Olanrewaju, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the declaration of the work-free day by Makinde was contained in a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Olanike Adeyemo.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State declared that every August 20 would be observed as a work-free day in the state to commemorate Isese Day. This day is set aside to honor traditional religious practices and worship.
In a circular issued by the governor, he encouraged all traditional worshippers and citizens to use the day to pray for peace, unity, and stability in Oyo State and across the country.
The declaration reflects the governor’s commitment to recognizing and respecting the cultural and religious diversity within the state.
