Idris Oloshogbo, a pilgrim from Lagos state has died in Saudi Arabia.
The Secretary of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Saheed Onipede, announced in a statement by the agency’s spokesperson, Taofeek Lawal, on Wednesday that a 68-year-old man from Shomolu Local Government died while eating his food in the evening after Solat Maghrib.
Oloshogbo was confirmed dead by medical experts in Saudi Arabia shortly after returning from Tawaf (circumambulation) of the Holy Kaaba in Makkah.
Onipede emphasized that while the exact cause of death had not yet been medically determined, it might be related to high blood pressure and the stress he experienced during the tawaf.
While extending the condolences of the state government to the immediate family and friends of the deceased, Onipede prayed that Allah would forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljanat Firdaus, as well as the reward of the Hajj, since he had already intended to complete it.
“The deceased has been buried in Makkah in line with laid down principles of Saudi Arabian authorities,” Onipede stated.
