Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, kidnapping for ransom has become Nigeria’s most-reported crime, surpassing murder, banditry, terrorism, and armed robbery.
Data from Nigeria’s Ministry of Police Affairs, shared by StatiSense, shows that kidnapping is the leading crime in five out of six regions: North Central, North East, North West, South East, and South-South, while murder ranks highest in the South West.
Despite Tinubu’s pledge to tackle insecurity, the issue continues to grow across the country.
