Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared a harrowing account of his struggle for life during an evangelism program seven years ago.
Speaking at the annual Special Holy Ghost Service themed “Joy Unspeakable,” Pastor Adeboye revealed how poor road conditions and health challenges nearly claimed his life.
Key Details:
- The Incident: During the church’s “Let’s-Go-A-Fishing” evangelism program in Ilesha, Osun State, Pastor Adeboye’s health deteriorated severely due to the harsh road conditions. He collapsed and was unable to continue the journey by road.
- Emergency Measures: A helicopter was chartered to airlift him to the RCCG camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. However, the situation became more complicated when miscreants attempted to block the helicopter’s takeoff, damaging one of its windows in the process.
- Health Crisis: For the first time in his life, Pastor Adeboye spent Christmas Day bedridden, a moment he described as a close encounter with death. He credited his survival to divine intervention, stating that he had an assurance that reaching the camp would lead to his recovery.
- Gratitude and Reflection: Seven years later, Pastor Adeboye expressed profound gratitude for his life, urging the congregation to thank God for sparing him. He also used the opportunity to advise believers to remain steadfast in their faith and avoid living double lives.
