The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced public holidays to mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, declared Wednesday, December 25, 2024, and Thursday, December 26, 2024, as public holidays for Christmas and Boxing Day, respectively.
Additionally, Wednesday, January 1, 2025, has been declared a public holiday for New Year’s Day.
In his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended warm greetings to all Nigerians, encouraging them to embrace the season’s values of love, peace, and unity. He emphasized the importance of the Christmas season as a time for spiritual reflection and national renewal.
The minister urged citizens to use the festive period to strengthen family and community bonds while remaining committed to peace and national progress.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo also reassured Nigerians of the government’s dedication to fostering security, unity, and prosperity across the country.
He expressed optimism about the success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, forecasting a prosperous 2025 with improved economic prospects.
