The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, 2024, a public holiday to mark Eid-Maulud, the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
This was announced in a statement by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, on Friday in Abuja.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended his congratulations to the Muslim Ummah, both in Nigeria and abroad, on behalf of the government.
He encouraged all Muslims, and Nigerians as a whole, to embrace values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience. Tunji-Ojo also called on the Muslim community to use this time for prayers for lasting peace and greater prosperity for the nation.
