The Department of State Security Services (DSS) has detained Ikhuemoisa Adeoluwa Igaga, a 100-level Computer Science student at the University of Ibadan, in connection with the upcoming #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
Igaga, the son of Comrade Mike Igaga, an ex-speaker of the UI students union, and cousin to the late NANS President Moses Oisakede, was handed over to the DSS by the university’s security unit.
Sources revealed that the DSS intercepted a phone call between Ikhuemoisa and his father discussing a national protest against hunger during a recent UI electricity protest. The recorded conversation was reportedly sent from the Abuja DSS to the Ibadan DSS, leading to Igaga’s arrest.
A source told SaharaReporters, “The DSS sent the phone call they intercepted to Ibadan, which led to the boy’s arrest. It’s shocking in a democracy.”
Ikhuemoisa was taken into custody by the school’s Chief Security Officer and handed over to the DSS.
Another source confirmed, “The DSS is about to release him, but he is currently writing a statement at the UI security unit. They instructed him to return on Monday.”
