The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has cautioned corps members to respect the cultures and traditions of the communities where they are posted.
He also advised them against risky behaviors such as night journeys and other activities that could endanger their safety.
Ahmed conveyed these messages while speaking to corps members at the NYSC orientation camps in Edo and Delta States. He emphasized that the management prioritizes the welfare and security of all corps members and urged them not to expose themselves to danger.
The Director-General also encouraged corps members to integrate into their host communities after leaving the orientation camp and to contribute to national development through community development projects.
He said, “Respect the culture and tradition of wherever you are posted to. Try and settle down in your places of primary assignment immediately you leave camp and serve diligently. Beware of bad friends and avoid every behavior that can jeopardize your future. Your parents have laboured for you and this is the time you have to reap the fruits of your labour.”
In her report, the NYSC Edo State Coordinator, Mrs. Frances Ben-Ushie, mentioned that the 1,287 corps members, comprising 551 males and 736 females, have been actively participating in various camp committees and contributing meaningfully to the success of the orientation course.
Similarly, the Delta State Coordinator, Mr. John Kwaghe, noted that all 1,577 registered corps members, including 738 males and 839 females, have been highly committed and disciplined in their camp activities.
