The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has fixed January 13 to rule on the bail application of ex-Queen of Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, Oriyomi Hamzat, and Abdullahi Fasasi.
Justice K. B. Olawoyin set the date during Tuesday’s hearing. Naomi, Hamzat—who is the proprietor of an Ibadan-based radio station, Agidigbo FM—and Fasasi, the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, were arrested following a stampede in December.
The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of over 35 people during a stampede for food in Ibadan. Counsels for the accused had filed a summons of application for bail before the court.
After listening to the submissions and arguments of the counsels, Justice Olawoyin adjourned the ruling on the bail application until Tuesday, January 13, 2025.
The suspects are currently being remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre Agodi.
