Map of Lagos State

Several passengers sustained injuries after a late-night collision between two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses at the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos on Tuesday.

The accident occurred within the BRT lane on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, near Danco Filling Station.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that the injured passengers were immediately taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment, with no fatalities reported.

According to Nosa Okunbor, the head of the public affairs unit of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the accident happened when one BRT bus tried to avoid a commercial motorcyclist who was illegally using the BRT corridor, leading to a collision with another oncoming BRT bus.

Okunbor mentioned that passengers from both buses suffered varying degrees of injuries and had been transported to the hospital before the arrival of emergency response teams.

He also stated that two tow trucks were deployed to remove the damaged buses, ensuring the resumption of traffic flow.
