Amidst worsening insecurity crises by terrorists, kidnappers and uncouth herders across the country, the Nigerian Senate called upon those involved in national security management today, 7th January, 2024.
The meeting was meant to involve the presence of other stakeholders, including the Service Chiefs in order to find a long-term solution to the problem.
They were anticipated to brief the chamber on the entry of terrorists and kidnappers into the FCT which is under obvious siege.
Present for the briefing today included Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.
The Senate leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, made the motion to adjourn the security briefing by the service chiefs, and Senator Abba Moro, the minority leader, seconded it due to the absence of other stakeholders
The Senate clerk was then instructed to include the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Defense, the Minister of State for Defense, the Minister of Police Affairs, and the National Security Advisor on the list of invitees for the next meeting.
