In a tragic incident, two police officers were killed in an attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists at a police station in Gajiram, Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attack occurred on January 9, 2025, around 12:10 a.m. The terrorists attempted to invade the Nganzai police division but were repelled by the gallant officers on duty.
During the exchange of gunfire, the terrorists threw hand grenades, which unfortunately landed on a shelter tent behind the division, fatally wounding two officers. One other police officer was critically injured in the attack. The bodies of the deceased officers have been taken to the State General Hospital in Maiduguri.
The Borno State Police Command’s spokesperson, Kenneth Daso, confirmed the incident and commended the officers for their bravery in repelling the terrorists.
He also extended condolences to the families of the fallen officers and assured the public that the command remains dedicated to ensuring safety and security for all residents.
