A Federal Government investigative panel has confirmed that Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, served his six-month jail sentence at the Kirikiri Medium Security Custodial Centre in Lagos for violating laws related to the abuse of Naira notes.
The panel, chaired by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, found no evidence to support allegations that Bobrisky bribed Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) officials to serve his sentence outside prison confinement. His sentence began on April 12, 2024, and ended on August 5, 2024.
While the report cleared claims of Bobrisky residing in a private apartment during his jail term, it did confirm that he was granted special privileges during his time in custody.
These privileges have raised public concern, leading to further investigations into corruption within the NCoS.
The panel’s findings are part of a larger probe, with further details expected to emerge as the inquiry continues.
The panel was convened following allegations raised in a viral audio recording, which had sparked public outcry.
Meanwhile, Bobrisky was arrested earlier today at Seme border over allegations of trying to leave Nigeria to prevent appearing before the House of Representatives Investigative Panel.
