The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has strongly warned against demands for a coup in reaction to the country’s economic problems. He has also emphasized the value of democracy and patience.
After the groundbreaking of many construction projects, he conveyed this message to reporters at the Nigerian Army 6 Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. General Musa urged people who were advocating for a military coup to stop using such language.
Following his ceremonial opening of the new entrance gate and officers’ transit accommodations at the 6 Division Headquarters, he made the following remarks. Protests in Ogun, Oyo, Kano, Niger, and other parts of Nigeria have been occurring in recent weeks due to public dissatisfaction with rising food prices, the rising cost of living, and other harsh conditions brought on by the elimination of gasoline subsidies, the forex crisis, and other issues.
Elsewhere, speaking in the same vein, Former Head-of-State, General Yakubu Gowon advised Nigerians to be patient with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration.
