Bandits kidnap nurses, patients in Kaduna

Gunmen

Bandits invaded the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting two nurses and an unspecified number of patients on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Musa Alhassan, a leader of the local vigilante group, reported that the attackers initially targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School but shifted their focus to the healthcare centre after finding the school empty.

The bandits, who were seeking to kidnap students, instead took healthcare workers and patients, leaving the community in disarray.

Alhassan confirmed that while two female nurses were among those abducted, the exact number of patients taken remains unknown.

An eyewitness described the scene as chaotic, with the assailants wielding guns and machetes, dragging people out of the hospital without resistance. The incident has heightened fears in the area.
