Armed robbers beg bishops for prayers

Gunmen

A group of armed robbers who ambushed 13 bishops of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star on an episcopal tour through Benue State pleaded for prayers to avoid being caught.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening along a federal highway en route to Abuja.

Archbishop Benjamin Ogwutum, leader of the bishops, recounted the event, explaining they were traveling at night to reach Abuja.

Upon encountering the men, initially thought to be Fulani herdsmen, the group stopped their vehicle in fear.

However, after the bishops invoked the name of God, one of the robbers, believed to be the leader, instructed his gang to release them, recognizing them as “people of God.”

In a surprising turn, the leader confessed they were armed robbers and requested prayers from the bishops for protection from being caught.
