The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified that former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is not in their custody.
In a statement released on Wednesday, EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale addressed media reports claiming Bello’s detention, confirming that the ex-governor remains wanted for alleged money laundering charges amounting to ₦80.2 billion.
Oyewale stated, “Media reports today that a former Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Bello is in the holding facility of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, are incorrect. The Commission wishes to state that Bello is not in its custody.”
He added that the warrant for Bello’s arrest remains active.
