The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, has disclosed in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja that the widespread tension of bomb explosion to have rocked the city is false.
She confirmed that although, an explosion occurred near a refuse dump outside Bureau of Public Enterprise in Maitama, but it is not bomb related, she said after a response team of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit was deployed to access the situation.
She noted that preliminary findings shows that an overheated metal refuse container activated under intense heat, exploded, and mildly injured two of the refuse evacuators.
She therefore urged the general public to take caution and desist from using metal refuse bins.
She confirmed affected refuse evacuators are currently receiving medical attention in Maitama General Hospital.
She said the use of plastic or rubber containers for waste disposal are better as they pose a lesser risk of being over heated.
