Abiola’s Children fight dirty over Willed Inheritance

Moshood Kashimawo Olawale 'MKO' Abiola

Abdulmumuni Abiola, one of the sons of the late Moshood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola, has declared that he will never forgive his elder brother, Kola Abiola, due to unresolved issues surrounding the family inheritance.

In a recent appearance on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, Abdulmumuni accused Kola of withholding funds and assets willed to Abiola’s children, despite the completion of necessary procedures, including blood tests to determine the rightful heirs.

Abdulmumuni explained that their father had willed £650,000 to his first four wives, with £150,000 allocated to his late mother, Kudirat Olayinka Abiola.

“We did blood tests so we had a list of qualifying children. If you look at the will and you see how systematic it is, he names the wives and he apportions the money to them,” he revealed.

“I would like to give you some information on that. My mum was number two (Kudirat Olayinka Abiola). I think she was apportioned £150,000.”

However, he claimed that Kola refused to release the funds, citing legal obstacles under British law, since Kudirat died before MKO Abiola. Abdulmumuni disputed this reasoning, suggesting that Kola could have chosen to distribute the inheritance if he wanted to.

He also revealed that Kola had sold their mother’s apartment in the UK without informing his siblings, adding to the sense of betrayal.

“Not to mention my mum’s apartment in the UK, before we knew anything, Kola had sold it without telling my brothers or my sister anything about it,” he said.

Abdulmumuni accused his brother of systematically marginalizing his mother’s side of the family and said this is why reconciliation between them seems unlikely.

A while ago, in a separate interview, Abdulmumuni revealed that his father had 30 wives.
