48 reject cultism in Ogun, surrender arms

Abiodun Alamutu, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, announced on Tuesday that 48 members of different cults in the Sagamu area of the state have abandoned their membership and have submitted their firmarms for confiscation.

The cultists promised to change for better and have submitted their weapons which include seven single barrels, two english pistols, four double barrel, one pump action gun, four locally made pistols and 35 cartridges. Alamutu stated that the cultist deserved a chance to become a better citizens and contribute to the peaceful coexistence in the state.

Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akarigbo of Remo land, stated that the amnesty for the cultists was the outcome of multiple meetings and discussions as cultism is not a path to success but will rather destroy them.

“Many have expressed regret for their evil deeds and pledged to start over. We hope others take a crucial lesson and repent totally and he pleaded with the Sagamu community residents to repentant cultist love and support rather than treating them as an outcasts,” he said.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, Sagamu Security Committee, security agencies were praised by Monarch for their tireless effort in holding the amnesty agreement for the former cultists.
