A tragic boat accident in Gummi town, Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, has claimed the lives of 41 people.
The boat, which was carrying over 50 passengers, capsized shortly after departing the shore on Saturday. While 12 passengers were rescued alive, the remaining 41 were confirmed to have drowned.
Mallam Suleiman Gummi, the federal lawmaker representing Gummi-Bukkuyum constituency, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
In a statement, he described the incident as deeply unfortunate, urging the families to remain strong and accept Allah’s will.
He also prayed for the souls of the deceased and for the recovery of the survivors.
