Job Description:
As a Production Technician, you will play a vital role in establishing and maintaining cassava seed multiplication for IITA’s Business Incubation Platform (BIP) GoSeed and partner outgrowers fields, both within and outside IITA premises. Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing best practices for cassava seed multiplication fields establishment and maintenance.
- Serving as a liaison between IITA BIP GoSeed, outgrowers, and seed entrepreneurs.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records of established fields and providing regular progress reports to the IITA BIP GoSeed supervisor.
- Ensuring that fields meet certification requirements from relevant authorities.
- Identifying and facilitating connections between IITA BIP GoSeed and growers with potential buyers for cultivated cassava seeds.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a similar role within a structured environment.
Skills/Competencies:
- Experience in conducting seed multiplication using various techniques.
- Understanding of resource management and operational procedures.
- Ability to handle heavy workloads extending beyond office hours and during weekends.
- Capacity for innovation, quick adaptation, and application of new methods.
- Knowledge of SeedTracker software will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including typing and data entry.
