The Nigerian Air Force Salary Structure is based on the rank held and years of service. Established on the 18th of April 1964, the Nigerian Air force whose motto is ” Willing…Able…Ready” is one of the core branches of the Nigerian Military Institution. 

Their major function, as their name implies, is the protection of Nigerians and Nigeria as a whole through the air; however, they are sometimes paired up with the other military branches like the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy.

As Nigerians we clearly understand the privileges that come with being a man or woman of the force. Nevertheless, it is important to note that not all fingers are equal in the Nigerian Air Force.

As a well-structured military branch, there are various ranks as well as a salary structure based on these ranks.

There are two basic ranks in the Nigerian Air Force, and each rank comes with a different level of authority. 

There are the Commissioned officers, who are high ranking officers who give out commands and strategic instructions to their junior staff. And we also have the non-commissioned officers, who take instructions and commands from the high ranking officers.

In accordance with the Nigerian Air force ranking system, those who joined the force presenting an SSCE certificate are assigned the rank of Aircraftman while those who joined the force presenting a National Diploma certificate are assigned either the rank of Lance Corporal or Corporal depending on the trade test they used to join the force.

Also, those who are university of polytechnic graduates who join with either an HND or  a B.Sc are given the rank of Flying officer.

The Nigerian Air Force Salary Structure

As we have said earlier, The Nigerian Air Force Salary Structure is based on the ranks held by officers and their years of service. It is also important to note that the Nigerian Air Force Salary Structure is one of the best in the Nigerian Military Service.
As of 2024, the monthly salaries of commissioned officers in the Nigerian Air force ranges from ₦187,159 for pilot officers to ₦2,800,000 for the Marshal. However, the salaries for non-commissioned officers ranges from ₦52,892 for Aircraft Men, way up to ₦171,793 for Air Warrant Officers in the Air Force. Commissioned Officers Salary Structure

1.Marshal of the Nigerian Air Force: ₦2,800,000 monthly.

2. Air Chief Marshal: ₦2,113,602 monthly.

3. Air Marshal: ₦1,838,711 monthly.

4. Air Vice-Marshal: ₦1,699,451 monthly

5. Air Commodore: ₦977,895 monthly.

6. Group Captain: ₦852,631 monthly.

7. Wing Commander: ₦742,586 monthly.

8. Squadron Leader: ₦648,004 monthly.

9. Flight Lieutenant: ₦332,484 monthly.

10. Flying Officer: ₦218,400 monthly.

Please note that this salary structure above is the current salary structure used by the Nigerian Air force currently. They can decide to change it anytime. Either due to economic reasons or due to government policies.

Nigerian Air Force Allowance

Apart from the salaries mentioned above, officers of the  Nigerian Air Force are also entitled to allowance. 

The allowances are usually paid to their various personnels. Here are some of the allowances below: 

1.Regiment Allowance – #45,000 – #75000

2.Transport Allowance – #10000 – #25000

3.Uniform Allowance – #10000 – #20000

4.Boot Allowance – #10000 – 20000
