The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is inviting suitable candidates to apply for the positions under the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC).

This commission is available for degree holders who are professionals in specific fields and offers six months of intensive military training. Upon successful completion, candidates will be commissioned into the rank of Flying Officer.

General Instructions for Applicants:
  1. Nationality: Applicants must be Nigerian citizens either by birth or origin.
  2. Age Requirement: Applicants should be between 20 and 30 years old by 27 September 2025 (the age limit for medical consultants is 25-40 years). Note the following:
    • Applicants born before 27 September 1995 are not eligible to apply, and for medical consultants, the cut-off is 27 September 1985.
    • This recruitment is not open to serving personnel seeking Branch Commission, so individuals over 30 years of age (born before 27 September 1995) should not apply.
  3. Height: Male applicants must be at least 1.66 meters tall, while female applicants must be at least 1.63 meters.
  4. Medical Fitness: Applicants must meet the Nigerian Air Force’s standards for medical, physical, and psychological fitness.
  5. Local Government Attestation Form: Applicants’ Local Government Area Attestation Forms must be signed by a military officer from the same state, with a minimum rank of Wing Commander (for the Air Force), or by a similarly ranked officer from the Nigerian Army, Navy, or the Police (Assistant Commissioner or higher). Local Government Chairmen/Secretaries, Magistrates, or Principals of secondary schools attended by the applicants may also sign. The form should include a passport photo and a copy of the signee’s Driver’s License, National ID, or International Passport. Additionally, the signee should endorse the back of the applicant’s passport photo.
  6. Presentation of Original Credentials: Shortlisted applicants must present original documents during the Selection Board Interview. These include Two recent passport-sized photographs, stamped and countersigned by the relevant officer
    • Original and photocopy of birth certificate or declaration of age.
    • Original and photocopy of educational/professional certificates.
    • Original and photocopy of a certificate proving the applicant’s indigeneship from their Local Government or State of Origin.
    • Original and photocopy of an attestation of moral character signed by the appropriate officer.
  7. Impersonation and Falsification: Applicants suspected of impersonation or submitting forged documents will be disqualified. If discovered later, such applicants may be removed from training and handed over to the police for prosecution. The Nigerian Air Force will not respond to inquiries about rejected applications. The online registration is free, and applicants should ensure they provide valid email addresses and phone numbers.
  8. Required Documents After Application: Upon completing the online form, applicants must print the following:
    • Acknowledgement Form
    • Parent/Guardian Consent Form
    • Local Government Area Attestation Form
  9. Interview Invitation: Successful applicants will be invited to the Selection Board Interview via the portal: Invitations may also be sent through email and phone calls if necessary.
Academic/Professional Qualification and Requirements:
  1. Applicants must hold at least a Second Class Upper Division for a first degree or an Upper Credit for HND holders. Credits in English Language and Mathematics are required, along with qualifications in their respective fields of study. Being computer literate is an added advantage.
  2. Applicants must present an NYSC discharge certificate or an exemption letter when applying for the DSSC.
  3. Applicants must hold certificates of full registration with their respective statutory professional bodies in Nigeria, where applicable.
Disciplines Required

Applicants should carefully review the specific disciplines needed before completing the application form:

Air Traffic Services: Special qualifications or equivalent are required.

Communication, Information, and Space Technology: BSc/HND in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering/Science, Telecommunications, Radar Engineering, Information Technology, Robotics, Cyber Security, Networking, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields. Specific programming languages (e.g., PHP, Python, C++) and relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CEH) are valued.

Logistics: BSc/HND in Procurement, Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Biology, Chemistry, and related fields.

Works and Services: BSc/HND in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Land Surveying, Town Planning, Building, Estate Management, etc.

Catering Services: BSc/HND in Catering Management, Hospitality Management, or Event Management.

Administration/Personnel Services: BSc/HND in Public Administration, Statistics, Insurance, Archives & Record Management, Human Resources Management.

Sports & Physical  Education: BSc in Health and Human Kinetics (Physical and Health Education).

Air Provost: BSc in Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, Law (LLB, BL), Lab Science (BMLS), Veterinary Science, Cyber Security.

Education: Relevant educational qualifications in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, etc.
