Muhammad Patẹ, Nigeria's Minister of Health & Social Welfare

The construction of six new cancer centres in Nigeria will be completed in two years as promised by the Federal Government.

Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare said this at an interview on Monday. It stated that the facilities should be completed in 18 to 24months as equipment are available and staff has been trained.

“Since the bunkers need to be constructed, a maintenance agreement is in place as patients cannot sit on the floor,” he stated.

The Federal Ministry of Health has been given ₦37.4 billion to boost access to cancer care in different geo-political zones. The centres will be equipped with modern medical facilities.

“Each project is being tackled one at a time inorder to carry out the President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s agenda,” he concluded.
