Private Hospitals can’t pay ₦70,000 minimum wage

Private medical practitioners have voiced concerns about their inability to pay the newly approved ₦70,000 minimum wage.

According to Dr. Kayode Adesola, President of the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners (ANPMP), the current economic situation makes it difficult for many private hospitals, especially those in rural areas, to meet this requirement.

He highlighted that while some hospitals in affluent urban areas might afford it, others simply cannot due to varying economic conditions.

Dr. Adesola also criticized the government’s handling of private practitioners, pointing out issues like outdated tariffs and insufficient support for health insurance schemes.

He emphasized that without significant changes, many private hospitals will struggle to comply with the new wage law.
