Patients and their families are protesting the lack of water and electricity at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State.
They expressed frustration over the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) disconnecting the hospital’s power for 17 days, which has disrupted vital operations like test results and surgeries.
In response, the hospital management explained that UCH falls under the “Band A” electricity tariff structure, requiring them to pay a substantial monthly fee.
This high cost has made it difficult for the hospital to maintain a consistent power supply, the management said.
